Laughing with the African sunrise!

A hearty good morning!

It is cold in South Africa this winter, but I really enjoy the cold! It snowed in Joburg a few days ago, the newspapers said it was not this cold in about 26 years! There’s some photographs on a fellow South African bloggers website:

I drove to work this morning, wondering about “what next in my life” and then I saw the sunrise over the hill and it was beautiful.

South Africa - It’s possible

I laughed with the sunrise, because it felt good. All stress just vanished. This amazing sunrise got me thinking of our country.

As the world might know, South Africa is in a bit of a transition phase still. Many people are getting the wrong end of a deal for which they voted. There is anger everywhere, the newspapers thrive on this, but I think newspapers all over the world thrive on the negative. I wonder what will happen to society if all the newspapers reported on were the good and beautiful things happening. I can dream can’t I?

I spoke to the guard at the gate, he is a black man, I spoke to the young man tending to the garden, he also is a black man. These are the people that have it tough. But they really smiled. These are the people that want to make things work in our beautiful South Africa.

It is a sad thing that in many ways our country looks like and sounds like a damn battlefield. I will choose to believe in the genuine smiles.

I will always see myself as a global citizen – the globe is my playground – actually the universe is my playground, but that’s a conversation for later. Although I love South Africa, I can play everywhere. The internet makes that very easy.

I love the beauty of our country and I enjoy it and believe in the smiles.

If things feel a bit overwhelming, laugh aloud. I make a habit of laughing at myself; I can be so serious sometimes!
